Spiral Dynamics is the technology of using Value Systems as
originally developed by the late Professor Clare Graves of Union
College, New York. This technology has been further enhanced and
developed by Dr Don Beck of the Institute for Values & Culture,
Denton, Texas over the past twenty-five years.
Linked to the Value Systems technology are the Value Systems as
outlined in the diagram opposite. These codes broadly represent the
Thinking Systems and Cultural Manifestations observed at the different
levels represented by the eight colours from Beige through to
Turquoise.
This dynamic technology allows organisations and individuals to
build strategic working models which accommodate the Value Systems
present in their existing structures. An example of this being used
most effectively is where the organisation is first profiled in terms
of existing technology / people. Complementary structures are then
implemented to mirror the best fit of the technology / people mix
available in the organisation moving to the optimal solution option
over a planned time period.
